“We Fight ‘Em All”
The Student Activities department, along with the Charity, Events, Art and Baking club Celebrated the 7th Annual Cancer Awareness on Sunday, 13th November.
Educating students on the "Big Bad Ten" cancers such as breast cancer, lung, colorectal, prostate, stomach, liver, ovarian and testicular cancer, Dr. Barbara Karin Vela, from the Dubai London Clinic and Specialty Hospital visited our Campus for an hour long talk, followed by a very informative Q&A session.
The Baking club, prepared and sold over a hundred of mouthwatering range of healthy snacks, such as kale chips with hummus dip, fruit pops with honey and peanut butter dip, berry smoothies, fresh lemonades and many more items that are known food-fighters which keep cancer at bay. A range of merchandise such as cancer awareness arm bands, mugs and hoodies were also on sale. They were a total sell-out!
In just one day, our amazing team of volunteers collected over 3,000 Dirhams! The money collected from the sale is donated to the Al Jalila Foundation, a non profit charitable organization for promoting medical education and research in the UAE.
