Mdx students prove they can be CFO's of tomorrow at the "Who Wants to be a CFO?" Grand Finale

The Accounting & Finance department has launched a new initiative: biz*buzz – The Accounting & Finance Fest!
biz*buzz is a bouquet of activities that span developing skills to gaining experience to getting jobs. The festival is during February and March 2017 and will give extra-ordinary opportunities to students to showcase their expertise and to gain new insights.
The first competition - "Who wants to be a CFO?" The Middlesex Multiple Intelligence Test was hosted today at Middlesex University Dubai.
90 students enthusiastically participated in the first round, held on Thursday, 16th February. The students were given a written quiz, where they had to answer questions on topics ranging from Accounting, Finance, Spatial, Verbal and Logic. The students did extremely well and the top 8 students made it to the finale. “It is wonderful to see that the top teams consist of third, second and even first year students!” said Pallavi Kishore, CPC Accounting & Finance Programmes.
The top 4 teams battled it out in the finale on Thursday, 23rd February in a competition based on a live quiz format. The quiz consisted of 6 rounds – Accounting, General Knowledge, Finance, Visual, Business & Audio. The four teams – Alpha, Delta, Omega and Sigma competed fervently to take up the winning spots. The event and prizes were sponsored by Al Futtaim Logistics.
The winning team ‘Team Delta’ included Shaista Mohammed Basheer and Jay Ashvin Zaghada from Year 2 who won AED2000, while the first runner up ‘Team Sigma’ including Cherita Viannie Noronha and Fathima Farzana from Year 3 and they won AED1000. The third and fourth prizes were won by ‘Team Omega’ Mariyam Yogimadathil and Samina Burhani, Year 1 and ‘Team Alpha’ Rabia Naeem and Simran Sharma, Year 3 winning AED750 and AED500 respectively. The audience also participated enthusiastically and won prizes for correct answers!
The competition was conceptualized and organized by Ms Pallavi Kishore, CPC Accounting & Finance, Dr Vijaya Kumar, Senior Lecturer and Ms Subhadra Satapathy, Adjunct Faculty Accounting & Finance, Middlesex University Dubai.
As the first competition comes to a close, we look forward to the upcoming competitions lined up in February & March and to create a big*buzz with the biz*buzz!
