MDX Student Photographer wins at DIAC Tournament

  • Thursday, 29 June 2017

Middlesex University Dubai recently participated in the Dubai International Academic City’s Sports Tournament (held at the AktivNation) and won the Photography competition award for the third consecutive time! Ms. Hamna Ashraf , student at Middlesex University Dubai makes us proud once again!

This yearly sports battle between dozens of universities based in the UAE features Cricket, Badminton, Basketball and Football. Hamna won this award and was nominated by all the Organizers at the competition.Hamna's talent and involvement with photography at the University helped her to win various accolades both within the university and externally. Currently in her final year of International Tourism and Management. She also manages the Students Photography Club, The Shutterbugs.

Hamna says that she started off with a basic digital camera, while being a high school student. She developed her photography skills and gained experience. Travelling every day from Abu Dhabi for her classes, Hamna still found time and energy to take part in many university events and field trips she organizes for her fellow photographers.

On her Third win at the DIAC Cup, Hamna says: “I feel that the DIAC competition gets a bit more challenging every year and that is fun. Considering the fact that I’m more experienced in portrait shots, it was extremely stressful to take action shots but I realized we can capture a lot in sports: teamwork, spectators, the spirit of the game, you just have to observe what story you want to portray in the pictures…”.

We congratulate Hamna Ashraf on her amazing win and wish her many more achievements in her future career.
