<p>The LLM Legal Practice (SQE Pathway) programme aims to provide students who wish to qualify as solicitors of England and Wales the opportunity to prepare for the mandatory Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE). Students will obtain a Master’s degree while simultaneously preparing for the SQE and equipping themselves with those Postgraduate attributes needed to address complex issues both systematically and creatively, showing originality in tackling and solving legal problems.&nbsp;</p><p>The programme is delivered in collaboration with The College of Legal Practice, a fully accredited higher education provider, and wholly owned UK subsidiary of The College of Law in Australia. The College of Legal Practice specialises in the delivery of vocational courses that prepare lawyers for practice, particularly in the delivery of the SQE 1 and SQE 2 modules aimed at supporting students who wish to qualify and practice as England and Wales solicitors by passing the mandatory SQE examinations.</p><p>Combining global academic practice and online learning, students on this programme will benefit from studying at a leading Law School in the UAE, one of the world’s most exciting jurisdictions, whilst preparing to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

<p>For students to get the most out of the programme and the varied methods of teaching and learning that enhance active learning, the teaching on your programme will be blended, with some of the modules delivered on campus, face-to-face, and others online through the College of Legal Practice’s virtual learning platform, CANVAS.</p><p>The below modules will be delivered on campus:</p><ul><li>LEX4701- Legal Research Skills</li><li>LEX4720- International Commercial Litigation and Arbitration</li><li>LEX4722- Comparative Corporate Governance</li><li>LEX4760- Legal Practice Research Project</li><li>LEX4770- Work Integrated Learning</li><li>LEX4711- UAE and DIFC Employment Law</li></ul><p>This is to ensure you get the most out of face-to-face learning, access to campus facilities and support to strengthen the sense of belonging and community at the heard of learning.</p><p>Taught sessions are held at our Dubai Knowledge Park campus during the week (Monday to Friday) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm. Additional sessions may be scheduled over weekends or holiday periods, and you can expect to receive plenty of notice for these.</p><p>The below modules will be delivered online:</p><ul><li>LEX4730- Solicitors Legal Knowledge</li><li>LEX4731- Solicitors Legal Skills</li></ul><p>Online learning for LEX4730 and LEX4731 will be delivered through the online learning platform, Canvas. Canvas is one of the most highly regarded and widely used learning management system in the world, which provides a high quality, interactive learning experience. Canvas also facilitates frequent personal interaction between you and your supervisors.</p><ul><li>Specifically, Canvas allows you access, in relation to the two modules to:</li><li>A module calendar, personal inbox messaging and module announcements&nbsp;</li><li>1-2-1 meetings with your supervisor via Zoom links residing within Canvas</li><li>A virtual peer and networking community&nbsp;</li><li>Integrated learning resources for each module including text, multimedia, interactive text and video, in one easy-to navigate hub</li><li>Peer-to-peer learning including participation in discussion boards. This has proved very useful to facilitate Q&amp;As within practice areas</li><li>Written, audio and video individual feedback on work and progress</li><li>Resources and recordings at any time to suit your own study pattern</li></ul>

WORLD-CLASS FACULTY WITH A WEALTH OF INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE.

The LLM Legal Practice (SQE Pathway) has been specifically developed to support students in employability and career progression. The specific SQE focused modules are tailored to support students to be ready to undertake the SQE exams, required for anyone to be employed in law firms and work as a solicitor of England and Wales. Both the knowledge and skills developed through these two modules prepare students for practice and make them more attractive to employers. 

This LLM also supports career progression for those already in legal practice, as there is great demand by international law firms for England and Wales qualified solicitors and great interest from such lawyers to shift to such firms. 

The ‘dual’ degree in terms of SQE preparation and a Postgraduate level degree will make students more employable, considering the established benefits of an LLM degree. 

In addition, students entering this programme full-time will have the opportunity, by arranging to sit the external SQE1 exam in January (whilst the degree is still ongoing), to place themselves in a position of strength to approach law firms to secure Qualifying Work Experience, an additional requirement to the SQE examinations to qualify.
