Evidence Based Practice: Adding Spice to our Work Life

  • Saturday, 12 December 2015

The Department of Psychology hosted it's first Psychology research networking event entitled "Evidence Based Practice: Adding Spice to our Work Life", on 12th December, 2015. The event was actively attended by external and internal participants and was highly successful. The external participants represented a good balance of practitioners and academics, including professionals from UAE University Al Ain, and The Lighthouse Arabia to name but two.

The event involved a panel discussion on the status of psychology research in the UAE, including challenges and strategies to overcome these. The panelists were from different universities and organizations in the UAE .The panel discussion was then followed by two interesting presentations from the Psychology Department; 1- Converting an idea into publishable work, by Dr. Anita and Ms. Bianca, 2- Research at Middlesex, psychology students' research, and research collaboration by Dr. Lynda, Mr. Douglas and Dr. Eleni.

Some of the major outcomes of the event were:

1-Recognising the hurdles/challenges in conducting psychological research

2-Finding solutions to handle these challenges by being proactive in collaborative research

3-Sharing ideas and research interests

4-Organizing more inter-university/organization research workshops and events

5-Internship offers by HRI and Lighthouse Arabia to our psychology students
