Why is it crucial to provide learner support services?

Learner support services are crucial, not only for individual student progression and achievement, but also for supporting higher education institutions in their missions to all provide students with transformative and holistic learning experiences. At Middlesex University, the strategic step to formalise this support in the form of an independent department (CAS) has proved to be vital towards providing the complete student experience and this has been validated through the formal and informal feedback collected from staff and students who have acknowledged the role of this support towards improving retention rates and promoting academic success across the university.

Ms. Faiza Umar has been teaching the English language and academic study skills to non-native speakers for over 17 years. The students of the Accounting and Finance Department celebrated the success of the second edition of the Financial Modeling Club (FMC2.0) on 6 March 2024. Led by students, this year’s FMC 2.0 featured four upskilling workshops and two competitions. A total of fifty-five students secured the Foundations Certificate in Financial Modeling, offered by our academic partner, FMI. Special congratulations to Chirag Kherajani for earning the Financial Modeling Institute scholarship for Advanced Financial Modeling certification.
