Ducab Field Trip for MDX International Business Students

  • Thursday, 11 April 2019

A group of 3rd year UG International Business and Post Graduate MA International Business Management students from Middlesex University Dubai, led by faculty member Sony Sreejith and the Campus Programme Coordinator Rory McConnon, visited the Ducab production facility in Jebel Ali on 26th March 2019.

Through a guided tour, students were able to see first-hand, Ducab’s operational procedures from raw material intake, though manufacturing of a range of product lines, to final quality control.  Students also had a great opportunity to learn about the company’s key strategic initiatives within the UAE and internationally through an interactive question and answer session facilitated by very knowledgeable Ducab staff (Thank you to Sami, Roystan, Sunil, and others).

This learning experience fits in well with students’ modules in strategy, marketing, and supply chain management.  Middlesex University Dubai helps students to gain an in-depth knowledge about the dynamic nature of global business environments and an understanding of international entrepreneurial activity through the delivery of high-quality teaching and research, and through industry guest speakers and on-site visits to leading firms.

Ducab, founded in 1979 and jointly owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai and Senaat (General Holding Corporation, Abu Dhabi), is a global leader in the development, design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of copper and aluminium wire and cable products.  With revenues close to US$1.5bn employing over 1500, the company serves customers worldwide in the fields of energy, general construction, oil & gas, renewables, industrial, defence, rail transport, marine, mining and other specialty industry verticals (Ducab, 2019).
