IFP Social Science students from the Psychology, Law and Education pathways took part in a creative 6-week critical thinking group activity in which they were required to present global problems related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in a non-traditional theatre format. On 29 October the students showcased 16 short plays in the first ever ‘Citizenship Theatre’ production at Middlesex University Dubai: a walkthrough theatre format where guests travelled between plays to watch and engage with the themes presented.
The aim of the Citizenship Theatre is to allow students to discuss important Social Science topics with a larger academic and professional audience in order to create an impact, raise awareness, and open up dialogues around these subjects. Students were responsible for the direction, design and scripts of their own plays and succeeded in showcasing meaningful and thought-provoking performances that involved audience members as participants in problem-solving and social change.
