Al Shindagha Museum: Behind the Scenes

  • Tuesday, 19 November 2019

For students studying MSc International Tourism Management and MSc International Hospitality and Events Management Dubai really becomes their classroom. Following a trip to the home of Dubai Design Week, Dubai Design District D3 on Thursday evening, students enjoyed an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Al Shindagha Museum. The tour – a collaboration between Dubai Municipality and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority – was led by the project managers and creative directors of the Shindagha Museum project.

Students benefitted not only from a dialogue on design, on meeting authentic ideals while ensuring the pavilions are accessible and operational, but also from engaging with the technology and content. The trip formed part of the module tourism in the 21st century and was organised by Dr Heather Jeffrey who commented ‘it is always great to visit museums and understand the content on display, but a tour that explains the design and operational restraints of a museum is a very unique learning experience. Al Shindagha is an immersive visitor experience and seeing this emerge before the general public is truly a privilege’
