Middlesex University Dubai becomes the first university in the region to receive partner status with the Global Association of Risk Professionals

  • Thursday, 30 January 2020

Middlesex University Dubai’s MSc Banking and Finance has been awarded the status of FRM Academic Partner with the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). GARP is the world’s leading professional organisation for risk managers and sets the global standard in professional certification with the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification. The FRM programme is rigorous and well respected across the globe. By demonstrating expertise and commitment to better risk management practices, certified FRMs stand apart in their respective organisations.

This recognition further demonstrates that the programme meets the global industry requirements and best practice within the sector – therefore advancing our commitment of making students 100% employable. Risk management is one of the most dynamic fields in financial services and by aligning the curriculum with GARP, students can undertake two GARP examinations to achieve the professional FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification. This shows employers that the candidate is will prepared to succeed in this challenging field.

GARP’s Academic Partner institutions represent the best in financial education around the world. In addition to being recognised as an academic partner, GARP will provide six students and one faculty member with scholarship towards the FRM Part I exam, along with many other benefits.

Achieving the Academic Partner status required a rigorous application process along with course and assessment mapping, supporting evidence and documentation. Thank you to Pallavi Kishore FFCA, UAECA, CPC of Accounting and Finance, and Mariam Aslam, Lecturer in Accounting and Finance for proactively pursuing and achieving this status.

With this endorsement, all of the University’s Accounting and Finance programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate) are now recognised by at least one of the globally respected professional bodies of: ACCA, ICAEW, UAECA, CIMA, CFA, CIPFA and FRM/GARP.
