Dr David Tully FHEA

Biography

Dr. David Tully taught literature and film at New York University, where he earned his PhD. In New York, he served as Public Affairs Liaison for the NYU Medical Center and was Research Manager for News and Specials at music network VH1, before moving to Los Angeles to become Head of Development for Oscar-winner Volker Engel’s production company. In Munich he was a scriptwriter for television and features, including the British/German coproduction HEPZIBAH. In Dubai, Tully’s screenplay for DJINN, the first international Arab horror movie, broke box-office records in the Middle East upon its release in 2013, and was the last film directed by legendary filmmaker Tobe Hooper.

Tully has also written the critical biography TERRY SOUTHERN AND THE AMERICAN GROTESQUE and the novel THE KILLING FLOOR.  

His television series CATHARSIS has recently been sold to UFA Berlin, and is currently in development. Current research works in progress include a study of British film director Jack Clayton’s war with Disney, THE PRICKING OF MY THUMBS, and an examination of current  storytelling across multiple media platforms, THE CATHEDRAL OF STORY.
