Task: You are a team of financial analysts appointed by an investor to advise which ONE of the following two companies listed on NASDAQ is better to invest.
- Microsoft Corp. (MSFT)
- Apple Inc. (AAPL)
You are required to do financial data analysis, present them on Power BI dashboards and communicate your investment decision in a 2-minute video recording.
The students may form teams consisting of minimum 3 and maximum 4 members; however, we recommend participants to avoid gathering together with respect to the social distancing rules and rather use online meeting platforms.
Procedure:
- Register for the competition via the link available on the university website. https://mdx.ac.ae/life-at-university/events/biz-buzz
- Download data only from Morningstar.com. Data from any other site is not acceptable.
- You are not required to re-compute any ratios or Valuations as these are already provided by the respective databases. You may use ratios or absolute values or any other data as long as it can be captured on your dashboard.
- For Morning Star: The numbers can be seen on the website under the main tabs, such as financials, valuation, operating performance, etc. Click the tab: “Financials” and this will open three additional tabs- Income statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flows. Further, you can explore “Operating Performance” to get the computed ratios.
- The type of data that must be used by all the participants are as follows:
