Assistive Technology

Students who are blind or visually impaired might find assistive technology helpful as it lets you interact with your PC and control your digital world with your voice.  Assistive technology provides a means for producing written information more easily.

To this end, Middlesex University Dubai has available Dragon Naturally Speaking.  This software was originally developed for people who would rather use their voice to operate a computer. Therefore, not only does it help the visually impaired, but also people with mobility issues and other physical disabilities.  Students can dictate and compose documents completely hands free; you can also create spreadsheets, presentations, send email, and search the Web just by talking. It can make virtually any computer task easier and faster.

If you wish to trial this software, please see the Inclusion Counsellor, Ms Siobhan McNiff Block 15, Ground Floor, email: [email protected].
