A word from Professor Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro-Vice Chancellor Middlesex University and Director, Middlesex University Dubai
Congratulations, Class of 2024. Your graduation marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and personal growth, and we couldn’t be prouder to have celebrated this remarkable milestone with you.
I hope that during your ceremony you stood tall and proud, celebrating an achievement that is uniquely yours. Over the past few years, each of you has navigated a path shaped by thousands of choices, challenges, and leaps of faith.
It began with a huge decision: choosing your programme of study. Perhaps you were driven by a clear vision of the career you want to pursue, or maybe you followed a personal passion. Some of you sought to build on your existing skills and grow in your professional roles. Whatever the reason, you made the bold and commendable choice to invest in your future—and for that, you should be immensely proud.
Once you began your studies, you faced yet more decisions that would shape your experience. Did you choose to join a social club, or try a new sport? Did you volunteer at one of the university events, or seek out an internship for yourself? Perhaps you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone and went on an international trip, creating bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime. Each decision, big or small, has played a part in building the person you’ve become.
This journey has been about more than academics. It has tested your resilience, strengthened your character, and prepared you to take on the world. It has transformed you into leaders who are ready to create change, inspire others, and leave a meaningful mark on the world.
Although your paths have all been different, they have led you to the same place, united as graduates of Middlesex University Dubai. As you look to the future, you’ll face new decisions, new challenges, and new opportunities, but I have every confidence that the knowledge you’ve gained here will empower you to thrive, no matter what lies ahead.
Congratulations once again Class of 2024. This is just the beginning.
