Language and Culture Exchange (LCExchange)

About the Language and Cultural Exchange Programme

The Language and Culture Exchange (LCExchange) programme is based on the idea of connecting students who speak different languages so that they can learn from one another via informal language classes/meet-ups and face-to-face or online activities and events.

All activities are student-led. We currently have Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and American Sign Language (ASL) facilitated by students from our Middlesex University Dubai Campus, and Spanish, French, Korean and Mandarin led by students from our other Campuses in London and Mauritius.

Typically, the student facilitators are native speakers or extremely skilled users of the language.  They facilitate the language sessions in a relaxed and fun atmosphere while enabling participants to gain new experiences. Additionally, it gives participants the opportunity to meet new people and build professional networks.

All activities focus on learning and practising the language as well as comprehending the traditions and customs of the countries where the language is spoken. It is an excellent opportunity to enhance your language abilities and increase your employability. And best of all, it is free for all Middlesex University students and staff!

Furthermore, if you actively participate in the self-paced and virtual courses, you will be awarded a Certificate of Participation from our London campus to evidence your involvement.

The following activities and events are planned for the academic year 2024/25:

  1. Interactive self-paced online courses developed by fellow students.
  2. 6 virtual interactive evening classes  of 1.5 hours each per semester
  3. The Arabic, Hindi, Urdu and ASL courses will be supported by meetups/Language Cafés  on campus to further support your learning

Please register via the registration form if you would be interested in participating and for further details.
