UAE MoHESR INSTITUTIONAL LICENSE

Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) Licensure

The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has granted Middlesex University Dubai its institutional license on 9 January 2025. Being recognised at the federal level the MoHESR license underscores the commitment of Middlesex University Dubai to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence. With our Initial Institutional Licensure and ongoing programme accreditation process, we are firmly positioned to offer a world-class education that is recognised and valued both locally in the UAE and internationally.

This MoHESR accreditation process occurs in two stages. The first stage, which we have successfully completed, is obtaining the Institutional Licensure. The second stage is the accreditation of our individual programmes, which is currently in progress.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

The institutional licensure from the MoHESR confirms that Middlesex University Dubai is officially recognised by the UAE government to operate as a higher education institution.

The benefits of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) licensure include:

  • Ensuring that our university adheres to international education standards
  • Recognising the quality and credibility of our academic programmes
  • Enabling graduates to pursue employment opportunities in government and government-affiliated roles across the GCC

The university also has academic licensure and programme validation from the Government of Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The KHDA reviews all programmes on offer in Dubai to ensure that the quality of programmes taught in Dubai are equivalent to those at our home campus in London. Our international reputation ensures that, whether in London or Dubai, Middlesex University students are prepared for a significant role in the global economy.

FAQs

The MoHESR accreditation process occurs in two stages. The first stage, which we have successfully completed, is obtaining the Institutional Licensure. The second stage is the accreditation of our individual programmes, which is currently in progress.

After our programmes have been reviewed and receive their MoHESR accreditation, your degree will be fully recognised by the UAE government, aligning with the academic standards set by MoHESR.

Furthermore, Middlesex University Dubai programmes are aligned with the academic quality benchmarks of the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), ensuring that your degree will hold the same value and recognition as those awarded by the London campus.

Any MoHESR accredited degree will be recognised globally.

The UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) institutional licensure (already completed) and programme accreditation (in progress), along with our academic permit and programme validation from Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the alignment of academic quality standards with the subject benchmark’s of the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) ensure that your qualification is highly regarded by employers and academic institutions worldwide.

Your MoHESR accredited degree from Middlesex University Dubai will be recognised within the UAE and internationally, ensuring eligibility for postgraduate studies and employment.

Our programmes align with the UK’s QAA subject benchmarks which further assures that your education meets UK standards, enhancing your employability globally.

Once we have completed the second stage of the MoHESR accreditation process, our graduates will be able to get their degree certificates ‘attested’ by the Ministry. This recognition of degree certificates will enable our graduates to:

  • pursue further studies at MoHESR licensed universities in the UAE if they choose to;
  • apply for eligible scholarship programmes and research funding grants and that are available for graduates of MoHESR licensed universities;
  • gain employment in UAE federal government and government-related jobs across the UAE and other governmental agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the wider MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.

More details will be available as we make progress with the programme accreditation stage.

We will continue to maintain our recognition and academic permits with Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). This means that graduates will be able to apply for attestation of their degree certificates by the KHDA upon completion of their studies at Middlesex University Dubai.
