- Monday, 16 December 2024
The Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai JURIS Centre of Excellence for Legal Education and Training proudly launched the seventh cycle of its Future Lawyers Network (FLN) Mentoring Programme on 28 November 2024.
This initiative selects 20 law students to receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced legal professionals, offering them a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into the legal field.
The event included a discussion where returning mentors shared their experiences, offering practical advice on how mentees can maximise the benefits of the programme, providing a wealth of real-world insights and tips.
Mentors this year include Claire Thompson, Senior Ethics Counsel, Emirates Global Aluminium; Emel Nakay, Senior Legal Counsel, Accenture; and Shamuel Nachan, Senior Associate, KPMG Middle East.
The initiative, coordinated by Samantha Roberts, Head of the JURIS Centre of Excellence, and Navya Pudhukkudi Chanolien, Law Lecturer, MDX Dubai, has proven to be a transformative experience for law students over the years, providing them with direct access to seasoned professionals in the legal sector.
Samantha said: “We are thrilled to see this scheme continue to empower our students, and we look forward to hearing the success stories that will emerge from these connections.
“The programme aligns with our aim of bridging education with practice, helping our students refine their academic knowledge and enhance transferrable skills that are crucial for their future careers.
“The programme's success is due to the invaluable contributions of the mentors, who generously volunteer their time and expertise to guide the next generation of legal professionals.”
The FLN, a collaboration between Microsoft Gulf and MDX Dubai, continues to be a vital resource and is available to all who study on one of the MDX Dubai law programmes.
