Third student-led financial modelling workshop at Middlesex University Dubai a resounding success

Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai's Accounting and Finance Team is celebrating the successful completion of its third run of the student-led Financial Modelling Workshop (FMC 3.0).

Launched in 2022, the workshop is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to equip students with valuable skills in financial modelling, a critical area in the field of accounting and finance.

This year, more than 110 students completed the Foundations Programme on 5 December, which is offered in partnership with the Financial Modelling Institute (FMI).

The workshop’s design is a collaborative effort between students and faculty, promoting a model of co-constructed learning, this approach empowers students to take on leadership roles and ensures they gain real-world skills that are highly sought after by employers.

Sessions were led by student trainers Tiara Lopez, Shivani Salil, and Kanishka Kaushik, whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in the success of FMC 3.0, along with the support and guidance from Paul Coloumbe, Business Development, FMI and Ian Schnoor, Executive Director, FMI.

The workshops culminated in a financial modelling competition where students showcased their skills. The winners were as follows:

Best Financial Modeller:

  • First place: Varsha Susan Sudish and Akshidha Shaji
  • Second place: Hamda Fathima and Prarthana Praveen

Financial Modelling Quiz:

  • First place: Aparna Santhoshkumar and Alisha James
  • Second place: Sadhana Makesh and Maithili Ghoshal
