Business Students witness real-time trading in the foreign exchange market.

  • Monday, 17 December 2018

As part of their third year ‘International Finance’ module, Middlesex University Dubai Business Students were able to witness a live real-time trading in the foreign exchange market.

Students visited Century Financial LLC and their Senior Analyst, Mr Yogesh, conducted an interactive session through a dummy terminal and the students were able to conduct trades; leverage financial portfolios through margin trading; operate short selling transactions and witness arbitrage and speculation on foreign exchange markets. At 5:30pm, they were taken into the actual trading room where they were assigned to expert traders. Students saw the live foreign exchange terminals and followed prices on Bloomberg monitors – a very rare privilege.

At the end of the session, each student was given a dummy account with $10,000 as their transaction amount. These demo accounts will now be used inside the classroom to execute trades in the commodities and forward market and learn applications from the textbook.

The session was organised by Dr Sudipa Majumdar, Senior Lecturer in Middlesex University Dubai’s Business School.
