Athanasia Stylianou Kalaitzi completed her PhD in Economics and MRes in Management and Business at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. She also holds an MSc in Sustainable Development from Harokopio University of Athens, a BSc in Maritime Economic Studies and a BSc in Economic Science, both from University of Piraeus in Greece.
She is a Visiting Fellow at the LSE Middle East Centre and Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. She was previously Researcher Officer and Principal Investigator at the LSE Middle East Centre leading two research projects funded by the Emirates Foundation and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. Athanasia was previously an Independent Consultant in Economics and Econometrics working with international institutions and Quantitative Skills Tutor at Queen Mary University of London. She also served as Unit Leader in Economics and Econometrics at Manchester Metropolitan University and External Lecturer in Development Macroeconomics at the University of Manchester. Prior to working in the UK, Athanasia served as an Economist at University of Piraeus Research Centre in Greece.
She teaches across areas spanning Econometrics, Research Methods, Development Macroeconomics, International trade. To date she has supervised over 50 MSc students.
