From providing multiple study resources to providing quiet study spaces on campus, the Library is a pivotal part of the MDX Dubai campus. The friendly Library team is dedicated to helping make your academic journey a smooth one. Essential Research Skills for Students

One of the main roles of the MDX Dubai Library Team is to boost your information literacy by teaching you how to access, manage and use information ethically. The ‘Introduction to Research’ course, is one of the resources that helps support this. The four-week course is offered four times a year and covers six modules to help you develop your research skills.

Skills Focused Workshops

The Library hosts approximately 20 different workshops, in collaboration with the Centre for Academic Success (CAS) throughout the term. These sessions cover topics ranging from academic writing and paraphrasing to citing and referencing. They are designed to help students from different backgrounds familiarise themselves with the critical thinking and research-focused approach of the British curriculum.

One-on-One Consultations

Another highlight of the Library services is the one-on-one consultation sessions available for all students. These sessions are helpful if you require additional support beyond the classroom workshops and need further guidance with your assessments. You can book an appointment in person or online with the team.

Skills Passport

Currently in the planning stages, the Skills Passport is an exciting new project aimed at creating a micro-credentialing system hosted on Moodle. This initiative will provide you with access to a variety of learning objects, such as PDFs, videos, and interactive tutorials. As you complete these learning objects you will earn points and, eventually, a certificate after completing a reflective exercise. This project aims to help you find business information or statistics for an upcoming assignment, to recognise your strengths and weaknesses and to bridge the gap for students coming from diverse educational backgrounds or returning to education after a study break.

Our Library Team are committed to helping Students of Determination, ensuring that all students have equal access to resources and support.

Amplifying Student Voices

To create a more welcoming environment, the Library is leveraging its student community. By involving student interns and student representatives, the Library aims to make its resources more accessible and relatable to the student body at MDX Dubai.  Another innovative approach in the planning stages is the certification programme for Student Learning Assistants (SLAs), voice leaders, and inclusivity champions. This training equips these student leaders with the knowledge to guide their peers in accessing library services effectively.

Library Events

The Library hosts various events to increase visibility and encourage engagement. One upcoming highlight is the Library Week, tentatively scheduled for November. Activities may include a bookmark-making competition and a cosplay event where you can dress up as your favourite book character.

Laptop Lockers

For students on the go, the Library provides laptop lockers in Block 17, next to the Innovation Hub. This service ensures that you have access to technology whenever you may need it.
