MDX Dubai community comes together to mark World Mental Health Day

  • Tuesday, 11 October 2022

On Monday 10 October 2022 on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the MDX Dubai community came together to reduce the stigma around wellbeing and encourage open conversation around topics related to mental health in line with this year's theme of "Making mental health a global priority for all”.

The MDX Wellness Office held the launch event of their new mdxMindset Talks series, a monthly series of sessions and workshops taking place throughout this academic year on a range of issues related to societal wellness, including social anxiety, men's health, unhealthy relationships, and much more. During the session, students and faculty shared their thoughts on what mental health means to them, before learning more from Dr. Lynda Hyland about the services and initiatives they can access and get involved in across the University.

Dr. Anita Kashi and Ms. Mariam Melad from the Psychology Department then challenged perceptions and what society believes about mental health and wellbeing through an interactive quiz, before engaging in some myth-busting to boost attendees’ knowledge. Coach Sasa Obradovic from the Student Activities department also joined the session to share tips about physiological wellbeing, especially sleep and nutrition.

The Social Clubs also organised their own stalls and activities that students could visit to reflect on the meaning of World Mental Health Day and share their experiences.
