MDX Dubai Alumni Reunite at Padel Showdown

Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai alumni rallied together last week at our first padel event.
Held at the newly launched Padel Edition in Al Quoz, more than 40 alumni and faculty joined together on 12 September 2024, for an evening of friendly competition and connection.
The event began with a warm welcome from Professor Fehmida Hussain, Deputy Director of Engagement and Student Experience, Head of CEI and Head of the MDX Dubai Alumni Association, who emphasised the importance of community beyond graduation.
Attendees enjoyed spirited games of padel, caught up with old friends, and participated in a raffle draw with exciting prizes.
The event MC was former BSc Honours Information Technology student Fathima Riffai, who provided an excellent platform for alumni to reminisce about their university days, network with new connections and share updates on their current endeavours.
The evening concluded with a raffle draw, where prizes were awarded by Deputy Head of Computer Engineering, Dr Krishnadas Nanath, and Senior Lecturers Engie Bashir and Muneeza Shoaib Sandeela.
Professor Fehmida said: “This gathering is a testament to the strength of our MDX Dubai community. Our relationships extend far beyond graduation, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration that benefits us all. In these moments of connection, we not only celebrate our past experiences but also lay the foundation for future opportunities.
“As alumni and faculty join together, we have the unique ability to support one another in our diverse journeys, sharing insights, resources, and networks that can propel us forward. Thank you to all who attended and made this event a success. Together, we will continue to build a vibrant and supportive community that enriches the lives of every member.”

The determination, camaraderie and great sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament is a testament to their characters, and I am so proud to have played a part in their journey.
