Middlesex University Dubai Faculty and Students Connect at GITEX Global 2024

Middlesex University Dubai's faculty and students joined the largest and most comprehensive technology exhibition in the region this week, GITEX and Expand North Star.
The events provided an excellent opportunity for faculty and students to exchange expertise in technology, showcase their thought leadership, observe the latest advancements, and expand their professional networks.
Faculty members, Professor Fehmida Hussain, Engie Bashir, Dr Judhi Prasetyo and Dr Sameer Kishore, represented the university across various sessions.
Dr Judhi, Senior Lecturer and Head of the MDX RoboTechX Lab, spoke on a panel at the Tech Talks stage about the advancement of AI, how students can use it to their advantage and the future of AI within education.
Dr Sameer, Associate Professor and MSc Robotics Programme Coordinator, also took to the stage to discuss automation, robotics and the future of supply chain, focusing on humanoid robots and the benefits and challenges that come along with them.
Over at Expand North Star, Professor Fehmida, Deputy Director of Engagement and Student Experience and Head of Computer Engineering and Informatics, was part of a panel discussion on 'Driving Entrepreneurship in MENA: The Impact of Incubators, Accelerators, Innovation Hubs, and Venture Capital Firms'.
The panel delved into regional success stories, strategies for navigating market-specific challenges, and insights into emerging trends that will influence the future of entrepreneurship in MENA.
Engie, Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering and Informatics, was also at Expand North Star and took part in a discussion on the importance of education in fostering entrepreneurship and employment, and the innovative approaches to equipping the skills needed for an evolving job market.
The MDX Innovation Hub (MIH) also had a booth at Expand North Star, hosted by our students, who showcased some of their pioneering projects that highlight the university’s commitment to research, entrepreneurship, and real-world solutions.
