MIH – Al-Futtaim Innovation Hub Visit

On 8 November 2023, the MDX Innovation Hub had the exciting opportunity to visit the Al-Futtaim Innovation Hub with students from Computer Engineering and Informatics (CEI), Business Management, Accounting and Finance and Law programmes.
The Al-Futtaim Group is a large conglomerate based in Dubai, UAE, with a portfolio spanning many sectors including automotive, electronics, insurance, services, real estate, retail and more.
The students were able to gain insight into innovation and design thinking from Alex Tan from Al-Futtaim’s Digital Enterprise Architect department. An Enterprise Architect’s role is to provide vision, evolution and development of a company’s technical structuring. They pave the way for integrating new technologies such as AI, Big Data and Cloud systems, and the keen students had much to learn as they consider their own innovation concepts.
Next, the students had an opportunity to identify social problems and propose solutions with their own innovative approaches, which was followed by very productive discussions. It was a great experience for students to interact with industry practitioners from Al-Futtaim and apply practical knowledge to real-life problems.
We look forward to more collaborations with companies such as Al-Futtaim who are leading the way with their innovative progression and integrations.
