Renowned arbitrator Gary Born hosts ‘International Arbitration Talk’ for law students

The Department of Law and Politics at Middlesex University Dubai had the privilege of hosting the ‘International Arbitration Talk’ with internationally renowned arbitrator and special guest speaker Gary Born on Tuesday 29th November 2022.
Gary Born is the Chair of the International Arbitration Practice Group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, and is one of the world’s preeminent authorities on international commercial arbitration and international litigation.
This rare opportunity allowed our law students and faculty to attend a lively discussion addressing current developments in international commercial arbitration, and Mr Born was able to provide great insight into his own experiences within arbitration. He particularly emphasised the importance of the four Es when resolving disputes: Efficiency, Expertise, Even-Handedness and Enforceability.
The session was highly interactive and provided many opportunities to engage and ask questions, ranging from the recognition and enforcement of suspended awards, to code of conduct for arbitrators and international conventions governing the international arbitration regime.
