Students Shine at AI Everything Global Summit
- Friday, 28 February 2025
Computer Engineering & Informatics (CEI) students from Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai were proud to participate in AI Everything Global, one of the world’s largest and most impactful AI summits.
On 5 and 6 February 2025, the students exhibited their AI-driven projects, which ranged from machine learning applications to advanced cybersecurity solutions.
A group from MDX Dubai secured the first runner-up position with their innovative project, GuardianEar, during the Youth AI Builder Contest.
This advanced eavesdropping detection system, designed to identify and locate hidden microphones in real-time, earned widespread acclaim for its creativity and technical sophistication.
GuardianEar employs the Isolation Forest Algorithm, filtering out irrelevant noise and frequencies to provide accurate detection and real-time alerts. The project, aimed at enhancing privacy and security, highlighted the potential of AI to tackle real-world challenges.
The competition allowed the students to take their academic knowledge and apply it to challenges demonstrating their creativity and technical expertise. Whilst engaging directly with industry professionals and researchers, students received critical feedback that will shape their work in AI and related fields.
Dr Engie Bashir, Senior Lecturer CEI, MDX Dubai, said: "Participating in AI Everything Global provided students with an invaluable experience, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world AI applications."
Professor Fehmida Hussain, Deputy Director Engagement and Student Experience, Head of CEI, Head of MDX Innovation Hub contributed to an article giving insights on the transformative role of AI in education, discussing how AI is reshaping both the learning process and various industries.
