How was your university experience with MDX?

My university experience was incredibly memorable. I met some of the most fun and amazing classmates, who have now become my closest friends. The faculty were very experienced and supportive, always there for us every step of the way. The extra-curricular activities kept us engaged and provided something to look forward to beyond academics. I’ve always been inclined towards the arts, and during university, I would always volunteer to work on posters for upcoming plays or events, which I really enjoyed.

Do you have any specific memories that highlight your experience?

I have many good memories, but one of the fondest is from 2020, when I and four other students from my batch were shortlisted for the Dubai Lynx Student Print Competition Awards. It was truly a highlight!

What was your dream career when you went to university? And did that change in the process of your studies?

Ever since middle school, when I developed a love for anime and Disney Pixar movies, I've dreamed of becoming a designer. What solidified my interest in graphic design was during my first year of university. Encouraged by our faculty, I took on a summer internship for three months and seeing my work printed on huge event banners was, and still is, an incredibly fulfilling experience. So, my passion for Graphic Design remained constant throughout my studies.

What do you do for a career now and how did you get there?

I work as a digital designer for Cheil. I connected with the Executive Creative Director of Cheil during a Career Fair at MDX Dubai. The Career Fair was instrumental in helping me make valuable connections and gain insights into my career progression.

How has your degree helped you in your current role and how do you see it helping your progression in the future?

During my studies, I served as the Art and Social Media Director for a student publication club, ‘Public Eye’. I had the amazing opportunity to rebrand the page and present it to our Student Activities team. This rewarding experience taught me how to present logo and design options to clients, a skill I continue to develop today. Consequently, my degree has been invaluable in my current role, providing me with essential graphic design skills and proficiency in Adobe software. I believe this degree will be a strong asset when I pursue a Master's in the future.

Do you have a message for current students and graduating students?

My message to current and graduating students is to build as many friendships and connections as you can during your time at university. These acquaintances will become cherished and valuable throughout your life.
