Alumni Spotlight – Mihika Arun

Read on below as we catch up with Mihika Arun, and all she has accomplished since her graduation in 2016:

How was your university experience with MDX?

I always look back at my days at university with nostalgia and fondness. It was much more than just a classroom experience; I left with some great mentors and friends who I am still in touch with to this day.

Do you have any memories that highlight your experience?  

Without a doubt, the business case study competitions we had the chance to compete in.

What was your dream career when you started university, and did that change in the process of your studies?  

I always knew that I wanted to work in Finance and in the industry. So I can’t say a lot has changed on that front since university but I am very grateful to Middlesex for enabling me to pursue the field I always wanted to work in.

What do you do for a career now, and how did you get there?  

I work as a Business Navigator for IKEA Supply Middle East DWC-LLC. I started my career there as an Accountant and it was actually Middlesex that shared my profile with the recruitment team.

How has your degree helped you in your current role and how do you see it helping your progression in the future?

The BA Honours Accounting and Finance programme is absolutely fantastic for aspiring finance professionals. It not only equipped me with a strong base to enter professional spaces, but it also helped jumpstart my career by opening doors to other professional qualifications like ACCA, CMA and others.

Do you have a message for current students and graduating students?  

My only message would be to make the most of your experience. Get involved in what the university has to offer, both academic and extracurricular; build good relationships with your teachers and peers and have fun while you do so. As I look back right now, I've had so many memorable days on campus and the three years pass by much quicker than you think!
