What Does CIM Accreditation Mean for Students?

Being accredited by CIM provides significant advantages for students at MDX Dubai, offering the opportunity to fast-track their CIM certifications. Graduates of CIM-accredited programmes receive full exemptions from key CIM qualifications within the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing and the CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing. 

These exemptions allow students to bypass certain CIM modules, saving both time and cost while still earning an internationally recognised professional qualification, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.

The CIM-accredited programmes are designed to align with industry trends and the evolving marketing landscape. Students can graduate with skills in digital marketing, analytics, strategic marketing, and brand management, enhanced through real-world case studies and hands-on projects.

Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai are delighted to announce the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SAS, a global leader in analytics solutions, making our BA Honours Business Management (Data Analytics) programme officially certified by SAS.

This partnership reflects MDX Dubai's commitment to providing cutting-edge education that equips students with the skills required to excel in today's data-driven business environment and offers students a competitive edge by fostering advanced analytics skills, opening doors to industry connections and career growth.

Other benefits for students include free access to the SAS platform, free software licenses and extensive learning materials, and the opportunity to gain joint certifications from SAS and MDX for Data Visualisation and Analytics upon completion of their 3rd year of studies. The SAS software is built upon artificial intelligence (AI), utilising machine learning to manage and model data, and is widely used in industries such as finance, insurance, health care and education.

Professor Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Middlesex University and Director, Middlesex University Dubai; and Alexander Tikhonov, Regional Director of META signed the MoU agreement at GITEX GLOBAL, the largest tech show in the world, last week on 16 October.

The partnership was led by Dr Supriya Kaitheri, Senior Lecturer and Campus Programme Coordinator for the MA International Business Management programme.

The MDX Innovation Hub plays a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship by providing students with essential resources, guidance, and opportunities to develop their business and innovation ideas. Through one-on-one mentoring, startup workshops, and hands-on experimentation using industry-grade software, the MIH exemplifies MDX Dubai’s commitment to innovation and serves as a vital pillar for nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among students.

The MIH also hosted a booth at Expand North Star, showcasing pioneering student projects that demonstrate the university’s commitment to research, entrepreneurship, and real-world solutions. Notable projects included a Smart Trash Bin, developed by second-year IT students Av Madrigalejos, Suraj Srinivasan, and Chris Edappady, featuring AI-powered waste sorting capabilities. Alumni Sindhu Gundha, Aishwarya Sharma, and Hooda AbdulShakoor presented WayWeGo, an innovative solution addressing student transportation challenges, at the Young Falcon and Red Bull Pitch events.

Enhancing the Student Experience

Over 200 MDX Dubai students attended GITEX and Expand North Star, benefiting from complimentary access as members of the MIH or as part of the Computer Engineering and Informatics programmes. They also explored the Global DevSlam YouthX event on October 18, where they attended a workshop led by Zaid Zaim, an expert in spatial computing and a Microsoft MVP. This session provided practical insights into beginning careers in AI and XR fields and offered a hands-on demonstration of VR/XR technology in drone control.

Field trips are integral to enhancing the student experience; by stepping beyond classroom walls, students gain exposure to real-world applications of technology, interact directly with industry professionals, and understand the dynamic challenges and innovations that drive various sectors. This practical exposure not only solidifies theoretical concepts but also encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability - key skills for future career success.

Facilitating Knowledge Transfer

Faculty members from MDX Dubai played a key role in knowledge exchange at the event. Professor Fehmida Hussain, Deputy Director of Engagement and Student Experience, and Head of the Computer Engineering and Informatics department, participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Driving Entrepreneurship in MENA: The Impact of Incubators, Accelerators, Innovation Hubs, and Venture Capital Firms.’ This discussion explored regional success stories, strategies for navigating market-specific challenges, and emerging trends in entrepreneurship across the MENA region.

Senior Lecturer Engie Bashir contributed to discussions about the role of education in fostering entrepreneurship and preparing students for an evolving job market. Dr Judhi Prasetyo, Head of the MDX RoboTechX Lab, shared insights on AI advancements, its potential in education, and how students can leverage AI to enhance their skills. Dr Sameer Kishore, Head of hte VRx Lab discussed the implications of automation and robotics on the future of supply chains, emphasising both opportunities and challenges related to humanoid robots.

Professor Fehmida said: “Our participation in GITEX Global and Expand North Star reaffirms our commitment to being at the forefront of technological innovation and education. Engaging with industry leaders and showcasing student projects not only enriches the learning experience but also fosters a critical bridge between academic knowledge and practical application.
