A New Academic Year Approaches: Classes Start 16 September 2024

As summer winds down, Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai is gearing up for the brand-new academic year starting this September 2024. New students are about to experience an exhilarating journey, joining a vibrant and diverse community of students from all corners of the world and becoming proud members of the MDX family. Meanwhile, returning students have the chance to reflect on their accomplishments from the past year and begin a fresh chapter, whether they’re advancing to their second year or preparing for graduation. 
To ensure everyone feels welcomed and ready for the new academic year, MDX Dubai has organised a series of engaging activities and workshops kicking off in August designed to help new students settle in and get a head start on their academic journey. 

Pre-University Workshops 

Commencing in early August, students will have the opportunity to participate in Pre-University Workshops that are completely free of charge, designed to smooth the transition into university life. It’s an opportunity for students to get to know more about the services MDX Dubai offers, get to know the support staff and faculty, and learn essential academic skills such as time management, effective study strategies, digital literacy, critical thinking, and organisation skills that will help them get started.

The Centre for Academic Success (CAS) and Library Team will conduct online Academic Enrichment sessions, while the Careers and Employability Services (CES) Team will offer workshops to help students prepare for their future careers.  Additionally, the Student Activities Team will host fun and interactive sessions, giving students a taste of the social life at MDX Dubai.

Undergraduate programme specific sessions led by MDX Dubai senior faculty will focus on key academic and research skills that students will need before starting their programme. 

Virtual Programme Inductions

Virtual Programme Inductions will also begin in August, tailored per programme to offer an insight into what’s ahead for the next year. This is the perfect opportunity to meet programme leaders and learn more about the vibrant student life at MDX Dubai.

Week of Welcome 

The excitement continues into September with the Week of Welcome  from 16-20 September, with a series of events to welcome new and returning students to the campus. Through engaging social activities, entertainment, and workshops to participate in, students will be introduced to university life. They will also get the chance to meet sports captains and social club coordinators and sign up for activities they’re passionate about as the new semester begins. It's also a great start to building new connections, exploring new interests, and feel right at home at Middlesex University Dubai.

Student Support Hub

The Student Support Hub is available to ensure a smooth and stress-free transition for all new students joining this September. Starting from 19 August, the Hub will be available to assist with any university-related enquiries. Students in Dubai can visit the Student Support Hub on campus for support with admissions, student finance, timetables, online enrolment, and more. International students can access the online version of the Hub, with dedicated support available every Wednesday from 2 PM – 4PM. This service covers important aspects like admissions and finance, student visas and accommodation, online enrolment, and other essential steps.

Staying Informed and Engaged

Students are encouraged to stay informed by regularly checking their emails and the University's website for updates. With a packed schedule of activities and resources, the new semester promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for all. The University's social media channels will also be active with updates, event highlights, and student stories to keep everyone engaged and connected.
