Why I Chose MDX Dubai – Sonel Saju

There are so many questions you ask yourself when choosing a university: do I stay in my home country, or do I go abroad? Do I choose a creative programme, or do I choose a scientific one? Am I eligible for a scholarship? What will my career prospects be? 

When Sonel Saju was deciding on the right university for her this September, she asked herself these same questions. As a CBSE student, Sonel knew that she wanted to study an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance, but wasn’t sure which was the right university to her. After receiving fantastic results in her CBSE exam results and being awarded a top scholarship, Sonel decided that a UK degree at MDX Dubai was the study pathway that would help her achieve her personal and professional goals.  

We spoke to her to find out why she chose Dubai’s largest UK university!

Why did you decide to study at Middlesex University Dubai?

I decided to study at Middlesex University Dubai due to various reasons. While several options were open to me, at Middlesex I was offered an excellent scholarship. Being a UK accredited university, Middlesex also offers a wide range of opportunities in terms of employment and other higher education prospects. Through the BA Honours Accounting and Finance at MDX Dubai, I look forward to greater exposure and opportunities for growth and development in the field.

What are you most looking forward to about starting university?  

Choosing to study at Middlesex goes beyond academic pursuits. It is also an opportunity for cultural immersion and personal growth. Dubai’s multicultural society, renowned for its inclusivity and diversity, offers a rich and vibrant environment in which I can engage with people from various backgrounds and perspectives. I am eager to embrace this cultural exchange and am looking forward to broadening my horizons but also fostering my ability to work effectively in diverse teams.  

What is your advice for students still deciding what and where they want to study this September?  

I have gone through crucial crossroads while deciding on my university. However, choosing the course was not much of a big deal, as I was very well aware about my choice and passion. If you are a student who is still deciding what and where to study this September, my advice to you is to follow your heart and make an informed decision. While you might be surrounded with lots of facts, opinions, statistics, preferences, and financial constraints, at the end what matters is your happiness with the place that you have chosen to study. When one makes an informed decision, they can make the best out of the opportunities.  

How will receiving an MDX Dubai scholarship help you achieve your goals?  

When the CBSE Board Results came out, I was truly overwhelmed. But little did I think that I would be declared as the UAE Topper in the Commerce Stream! Honestly, this fact still excites me each and every time I think about it. All I can is be grateful to all the forces that helped me achieve this feat. The scholarship offered by MDX Dubai turned out to be the greatest turning point in my decision making for choosing a university. This scholarship will truly bring me closer to achieving my long-term goals in career building.
