Biography

Chris completed his B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. He then became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Arizona, working as a senior accountant and fiscal specialist for over a decade. His longest tenure was with the largest public university in the United States, Arizona State University. His time at ASU crescendoed when he earned his MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business, specialising in leadership development.

Later, Chris took positions as a business coach and adjunct lecturer for a small business incubator and training centre called the Business Development Center in Bangalore, India. Using a curriculum from Regent University, Chris helped develop budding entrepreneurs and equip them with management, fundraising, marketing, accounting, and business ethics skills. During that time, Chris enrolled in a PhD program through the Middlesex London campus, focusing on Business Ethics in the Asian context. His PhD thesis is titled ‘Fostering Virtue Among Autorickshaw Drivers - Embedding Virtuous Conduct in Network Institutions in Sri Lanka: A Case Study of an Autorickshaw Institution.’

Chris has been teaching at the Middlesex Dubai campus since 2019. During his tenure at Middlesex, he has taught the Foundation Management Project course, Foundations of Business, International Entrepreneurship, Financing Decisions for Businesses, Strategic Management and, more recently, International Business Strategy and the MBA’s Strategic Management & Innovation course. His unique pedagogic contribution is using MentiMeter to engage with students by asking provocative questions and stoking debate around the various learning outcomes in business management. His research interests include Business Ethics, Virtue Ethics, Algorithmic Management, Strategic Management, Institutional Theory, and Institutional Work. He supervises two students in the MBA and MA programs. Though he has no published work (yet!), Chris has given many seminars at several universities from his research in Sri Lanka.
